Electronics Fault-Finding & Control Board Diagnosis (Low-Voltage DC Only)

Modern equipment relies on small electronic control boards. When these fail, the usual answer is: “replace the whole unit.” That can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

GC Electrical Safety provides low-voltage electronics fault-finding for isolated DC control boards. We power boards on the bench, test key circuits and help you decide whether repair or replacement makes sense. We work strictly on low-voltage DC electronics only – no mains wiring, no fixed installation work.

What We Work On
We focus on four high-failure areas where control boards constantly let people down:

1. Pool & Spa Chlorinator Control Boards (DC Side Only)
If your chlorinator:
• isn’t producing chlorine
• shows power but won’t run the cell
• behaves unpredictably after storms or outages
• runs the pump but not the cell

There is often a fault on the electronic control board, not just the cell or pump. We can:
• check DC output to the cell
• verify low-voltage power rails
• inspect for failed components (drivers, MOSFETs, regulators)
• identify obvious damage such as burnt tracks or corrosion

All mains isolation, disconnection and reconnection remains the responsibility of your licensed electrician or pool shop. We only work on the isolated DC electronics.

2. Caravan & RV 12–24 V Electronics
Caravans and RVs rely heavily on 12–24 V systems. Heat, vibration, moisture and wiring stress often lead to electronic failures. We can assist with diagnosis of:
• DC fridge control boards (logic side)
• solar charge controllers
• battery monitors and shunt systems
• 12 V lighting and pump controllers
• accessory and switch modules

If it runs on 12–24 V DC and can be isolated from mains, we can usually help test it.

3. Marine 12 V DC Control Modules
Marine environments are harsh – salt, moisture, vibration and heat constantly attack electronics. We provide bench-testing and diagnosis for:
• bilge pump controllers
• 12 V switch panels and control modules
• DC fridge control boards
• navigation and lighting control modules
• other low-voltage 12 V accessory modules

Any AC shore-power work or fixed wiring remains with your licensed marine electrician. We focus purely on the low-voltage control electronics.

4. E-Bike, Scooter & Mobility Controllers
Electric scooters, e-bikes and mobility devices frequently suffer failures in:
• brushless motor controllers (36–48 V DC)
• BMS (battery management system) boards
• DC–DC converters
• hall sensor and throttle circuits
• logic power supplies and MOSFET stages

Most shops simply replace the entire controller. We can often:
• confirm whether the controller is at fault
• identify shorted stages or obvious component failures
• advise whether repair or replacement is the sensible next step

How Our DC Diagnostics Service Works

Step 1 – Isolate and Remove the Board or Module
Electricians, pool shops, caravan workshops, marine repairers or scooter/e-bike shops handle any mains isolation and removal. If the unit is fully low-voltage (12–48 V DC) with no internal mains wiring, you may be able to bring it directly – contact us to confirm.

Step 2 – Drop Off or Send the Board
Once the control board or DC module is safely removed, you can:
• drop it off by appointment, or
• send it to us via courier/post (trade partners)

Please include a short note describing the symptoms (for example: “no DC output to cell”, “no start”, “intermittent cut-out”).

Step 3 – Bench Testing & Fault-Finding
We power the board using a regulated DC power supply and use meters and test rigs to check:
• low-voltage rails and regulators
• output stages and drivers (where accessible)
• sensor inputs and basic logic signals
• obvious damage, corrosion or burnt tracks

We do not “guess” – we test and measure wherever practical.

Step 4 – Clear Result & Recommendations
You receive a clear outcome, such as:
• fault identified – repair appears possible within low-voltage scope, or
• fault identified – board replacement recommended, or
• no electronic fault detected

You then decide whether to proceed with repair, replacement or further electrical investigation with your electrician or workshop.

What We Don’t Do (To Keep You Safe & Legal)
To stay within Queensland electrical safety laws and our restricted licence, we do not:
• work on live mains (230 V)
• open or modify appliances that still have mains wiring attached
• alter or repair fixed wiring or switchboards
• work on the AC side of inverters or power supplies
• certify or sign off electrical installation work

Our role is to support electricians and workshops by providing specialised low-voltage electronics diagnosis.

Who This Service Is For
• Electricians needing help with stubborn electronic control boards
• Pool shops dealing with repeated chlorinator failures
• Caravan & RV workshops troubleshooting 12–24 V systems
• Marine repairers needing reliable 12 V electronics support
• E-bike, scooter & mobility shops facing controller and BMS issues
• Property managers and facility managers looking to avoid unnecessary equipment replacement

Service Area
Based on the Gold Coast, we service:
• Gold Coast & Hinterland

Our Client

Running a childcare centre means safety is everything. When we brought GC Electrical Safety in, I was impressed by how thorough but also down-to-earth they were. They explained what they were doing, fixed a couple of plugs on the spot, and left us with a clear report that gave me real peace of mind. It’s one less thing I have to worry about, and I’ll definitely keep using them.

Our Client

I’ve been in the trades long enough to know when someone actually takes pride in their work. GC Electrical Safety came through, checked everything properly, and didn’t just slap a tag on and leave. They sorted out a couple of small issues then and there, which saved me downtime. Straightforward & reliable I recommend them.
